Images of Iceland

This past summer, I had the good fortune to visit Iceland and experience the strange and wondrous terrain of this volcanic island. 

Long after returning home, its vivid colors, rugged textures, and dramatic landscapes continued to resonate with me. 

These impressions inspired a series of richly saturated, highly textured encaustic monotypes, in which layers of pigment and wax capture the raw beauty of this extraordinary place.
